Veteran actress Judi Dench has once again expressed support for Kevin Spacey, even as the actor prepares to face a new civil sexual assault case in London.
Spacey, once a celebrated Hollywood star, was largely pushed out of the industry after multiple allegations surfaced against him. But Dench, who worked with him in the 2001 film The Shipping News, continues to hold a positive view of the actor.
Speaking to The Radio Times, Dench shared that she stays in touch with Spacey.
“Kevin has been exonerated, and I hear from Kevin — we text,” she said, referring to the London court judgment that found the House of Cards actor not guilty of sexual assault charges.
Judi Dench has defended Spacey before
This is not the first time the James Bond star has voiced her support.
Back in 2019, she questioned whether Spacey’s decade of acclaimed work at the Old Vic and his successful film career should be dismissed entirely.
New civil case set for next year
Despite previous acquittals, Spacey is due to appear in the High Court of London next October to address civil claims from three men who allege the assaults took place between 2000 and 2013.
Spacey has consistently denied all accusations.
Kevin Spacey responds to viral homeless claims
In an earlier interview with The Telegraph, Spacey said he had been “living in hotels” and “living in Airbnbs” while taking whatever work he could find, which led to widespread claims online that he was homeless.
The actor later clarified the statement after receiving thousands of concerned messages:
He also criticized the publication for using a misleading headline, stressing:
I am not homeless, nor was I trying to imply that.
Spacey concluded his message by thanking supporters for their kindness and concern.
