Lindsay Lohan is reflecting on motherhood and how she hopes to guide her son, Luai, toward a life more balanced than the one she lived in the public eye.

The Hollywood star welcomed Luai with her husband, Bader Shammas, in 2023. Speaking during a panel at The Wellness Oasis Presented by Chase at Art Basel on Tuesday, Dec. 2, Lohan opened up about the emotional and personal growth she’s experienced since becoming a parent.

Asked what she enjoys most about being a mother, the Freakier Friday actress said,
Honestly, everything. The joy of watching another human explore the world because of you — it’s unlike anything else.

She added that her own past, including the difficult chapters of her early fame, has shaped her parenting approach.
All the lessons I’ve learned over the years, the challenges and the victories — I want to use all of that to help my son see a better direction, she explained. I’m grateful that what I went through can now become guidance for him.

Lohan also shared a humorous moment from her July appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
That morning, she had been on Good Morning America, and her son, watching with her in-laws, thought she was stuck inside the TV.
He kept yelling, ‘Mommy, come out!’she said with a laugh.

Now that Luai is growing more aware, Lohan admitted she’s a bit nervous about how he’ll process seeing her on screen.
I just don’t want him to get confused, she said.

When asked which movie she plans to show him first, she chose the family-friendly classic Herbie: Fully Loaded from 2005.
